![]() ![]() I use ActivePresenter now for almost 3 years! I am very proud of showing my presentations to all my colleagues. With the course creation module, of course, you’d get many more. Once you’ve captured a video, you can export it as a MP4, then add it to another video, then edit it again, then export that video and import it to another video…all without loss of audio or video quality.ĪP has a nice library of special effects, including transitions from scene to scene, fades in and out of individual items in the timeline, animation (even without Saola Animate), and opacity. You can record a video without the mouse and layer the mouse in later, another big maintenance win. You can record multiple audio and video tracks at once. It captures video off the screen or from an application *and separates the video track from the audio track*-a huge win in maintenance. As you edit, you can separate your video into chunks ("slides") to focus on one piece of animation or editing at a time. It can import PowerPoint slides, images, GIFs, and other videos. For ease of use and breadth of features, my favorite is ActivePresenter. I've used other video editing suites and course creation tools, including Captivate, Camtasia, and (currently) Premiere Pro. ![]() As a mystery writer, I produce "teaser" videos for my books: fewer maintenance cycles but I need more dazzling effects. As a video producer for a major educational company, I produce small how-to videos that need frequent updating. There are also options for other paid versions which incorporate more features, tools and export options should you require them.I use ActivePresenter in two contexts. There are so many other great features included in this FREE software. The free edition of ActivePresenter even offers SCORM compliant packaging so you can import your screen recording/presentation/eLearning simulation into any SCORM compliant Learning Management System (LMS). You can import your own audio, images and videos into your screen recording project, create annotations, text tips and so much more.ĪctivePresenter also provides many different types of file export including AVI, MP4, FLV, WebM, WMV and much more. There are many included editing tools which let you edit, cut, crop and manipulate your recordings in a timeline/track layout based system (like many popular video editors like Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro). With ActivePresenter you can record full quality motion video from your computer screen. It has a great set of screen recording and integrated eLearning tools…for FREE!! ActivePresenter is a great piece of software and competes very effectively with the screen recording heavyweights like Adove Captivate, Camtasia and Articulate. Coolwebs have been using this tool for a number of years to create instructional videos and tutorials. Other free software like Screenr have many limitations including limited time to record, watermarks, trial limitations, constant reminders to buy full version and don’t have many tools to edit and enhance screen recordings and presentations. There is many different types of commercial screen recording software available like Captivate and Camtasia that offer lots of extra capabilities to create eLearning simulations and training. Mac are lucky as they are taken care of with the Advanced QuickTime software that is already installed by default on Mac. ![]() It’s hard to find decent free screen recording software for your PC. ![]()
